Progress implies a direction

Shukla on Wikipedia

Posted by mindedit on October 11, 2007

While I was waiting to go in to a meeting I thought, because I am so very busy, that I’d do a vanity search on good old Wikipedia.

This is what I found

Well I never knew any of that.  Dunno what to make of it all.  White, as well as the lighter phases of the moon opposing krishna the darker phases.

  1. Shukla means “white” in Sanskrit. One of the oldest oriental language.
So the full moon is shuklapaksha-the white phase of moon.
Opposite of shukla is krishna.Krishna is used to describe the color black. So krishnapaksha(paksha=phase)conveys the opposite.

KRISHNA-Krishnais a deity worshipped across many traditions of Hinduism. He is usually depicted as a young cowherd boy playing a flute or a youthful prince giving philosophical direction (as in the Bhagavad Gita-The sacred scripture).

The term Krishna in Sanskrit has the literal meaning of “black” or “dark”, and is used as a name to describe someone with dark skin.
